Learn Cornish Podcast Launches On BBC Sounds
BBC Radio Cornwall's new Learn Cornish podcast is available on BBC Sounds from today, hosted by Cornish presenter Danni Diston with language expert Sarah Buck from Cornwall Council's Cornish Language team. Twelve weekly episodes explore the language and Cornish culture, with guests including BAFTA-winning director Mark Jenkin, Bait actor Edward Rowe, the Grand Bard of Cornwall Jenefer Lowe, and an engineer from Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station.
The series was commissioned to mark Cornish's recent upgrade to top-level UK government protection, alongside Irish, Scottish Gaelic, and Welsh. Episodes are aimed at total beginners — even if you only know dydh da for hello and meur ras for thank you.
