About this page

This page explains how to request that your Learn Cornish account and the personal data associated with it are deleted. It applies to the Learn Cornish mobile app (developed by Learn Cornish, listed on Google Play as Learn Cornish by Gorbollek) and the Learn Cornish website at learncornish.org.

How to request deletion

1. Send an email to support@learncornish.org with the subject line “Delete my Learn Cornish account”.
2. Send the email from the address registered to your Learn Cornish account so we can verify it is you.
3. In the body of the email, confirm that you want your account and associated data deleted.
4. We will confirm receipt within 7 days and complete deletion within 30 days. If we need to contact you to verify your identity, we will reply to that email address.

What gets deleted

• Your account and sign-in record (Firebase Authentication user, including email and any linked sign-in providers).
• Your learning progress and activity: courses, lessons, achievements, streaks, scores, game history, and study sessions.
• Your preferences and settings.
• Social data tied to your account: classes you joined, assignments, challenges, and friend relationships.
• Any content you uploaded that is tied to your account.

What may be kept, and for how long

• Anonymised aggregate statistics. Summary figures used to understand overall app usage (e.g. total lessons completed site-wide) may be retained. These do not identify you.
• Crash and diagnostic data collected by Firebase Crashlytics may be retained up to 90 days as part of normal reliability monitoring.
• Backups. Operational backups may contain account data for up to 30 days after deletion, after which backups are rotated out and the data is removed.
• Legal and fraud-prevention records. Where we are required by law to keep certain records (for example, to respond to a legal request or to handle abuse), we may retain the minimum necessary for the period required by law.

Changing your mind

Once your account is deleted, the deletion cannot be reversed. You are welcome to create a new account at any time, but your previous progress will not be restored.
